@naijapost247Police launched a manhunt this afternoon after the 28-year-old allegedly approached three different people in Manchester city centre offering to give up the child.
The alleged incident took place just after 2.30pm at Barton Arcade when the man was said to have approached a stranger and asked if he wanted to buy the child.
He reportedly then continued along the street, where he asked two more people the same question. One witness claimed that he had suggested the trade-off for £1,000, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Police made the arrest this evening, hours after appealing to the public for information.
Dozens of officers were scrambled to the city centre in a bid to stop the man leaving the area.
They also released an image of the man pushing the pram outside a nearby William Hill shop.
He is now being held in custody on suspicion of child neglect. Police said the young girl is safe and well.

Detective Inspector Liam Boden said: 'We would like to thank members of the public and the media for their assistance in publicising the appeal earlier today.
'We have now arrested a man on suspicion of child neglect and will be questioning him in relation to the incident as we try to establish the full circumstances.'
The Victorian shopping arcade in the Deansgate area of the city was built in 1872 and houses shops and office suites.
