The Sahara Reporters stated that a source at the DSS claimed that Obuah’s detention was as a result of an investigation that implicated him in aiding oil bunkering.
The online news portal also reported that family sources claimed that Obuah has been detained since Thursday, four days after he was asked to report daily to the headquarters of the DSS.

According to the report, a representative of Obuah’s family revealed that since Obuah’s detention he has been kept in solitary confinement, and denied access to family members, medical care and his lawyers.
Meanwhile, Sunday Sun reported that Obuah has been on hunger strike since his detention. Also confirming the report, the executive director of the Society for Global Justice stated that Obuah was detained at the DSS headquarters in Abuja and demanded his immediate release.
The group called on Nigerians to take note of the tyrannical, autocratic and dictatorial tendencies of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
This comes after the former national security adviser to ex-president Jonathan, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), was also detained by the DSS.
