A two-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car in Nottingham city centre.

A two-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car in Nottingham city centre. The girl was hit near the Capital FM Arena in Bolero Square at around 8am on Saturday.
She was taken to Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre with life-threatening injuries, where she later died, according to police. No arrests have yet been made, but police are investigating the death. 
A red Nissan Qashqai is believed to have been involved in the incident, and police were seen examining a car matching the description in the a2A71BDEB00000578-3157786-image-a-1_1436659637300rea just hours after the accident. 
Police forensic officers were at the scene throughout the day.
Sharon Lordan, spokeswoman for Capital FM Arena, told the Nottingham Post: ‘A serious incident has taken place outside the venue.
‘We are supporting the police with their investigations – we have cameras on site.’ 
Tributes poured in for the little girl on social media following her tragic death. 
One Facebook user wrote: ‘R.I.P little girl thoughts with the family and the driver who will have this forever in their minds after an accident x’
Another added: ‘Poor girl rest in peace angel you’ll be the brightest star in the sky tonight x thoughts are with the family at this awful time xx’
Another said: ‘So sad. Rip baby girl. Brings a thud to my heart. Can only imagine what mum and dad are going through. Heartfelt sympathy
