Nine games, zero wins: Neville's Valencia slump to another defeat as Betis snatch points

Gary Neville admitted: 'The obituaries have already been written' after a 1-0 defeat to Real Betis extended his winless run as Valencia coach to NINE games and left him fighting to save his job.
Gary Neville takes a sip of his drink as he heads to the dugout after seeing his side reduced to 10-men
He described the latest defeat as a 'punch in the face' but vowed to carry on after seeing his side lose to a team that started the day below Valencia in the table after only one home win all season.
To make matters worse they ended it with 10 men after substitute Jose Gaya was sent off with five minutes left and, if Neville remains in the job, his next task will be the second leg against

Barcelona following the 7-0 first leg humiliation last week.
Neville needed a big performance from his young team but they were punchless in attack, ragged in midfield and error-prone in defence.
He must now wait to see if the club call time on his two month stint in charge leaving him without a single league victory to his name.
The club's president Lay Hoon Chan is away in Singapore on business and there were no signs that owner Peter Lim was about to end his reign in charge.
Neville remains convinced things will turn around soon but his side now look to be in a relegation battle - when he took over they were four points off the Champions League places.
The former Manchester United player knows it could all be over after only nine games in charge

The decisive goal came on 50 minutes and indirectly from a Valencia attack down their right. Sofiane Feghouli ran down a blind alley losing the ball and claiming, in vain, that he had been fouled before Betis broke.

REAL BETIS HOME FORM

Real Betis have won only TWO games at home this season, beating David Moyes Real Sociedad 1-0 in September and inflicting another defeat on Gary Neville and Valencia
Ruben Castro played the ball to Musonda who gave it to Ricky van Wolfswinkel. And when the on-loan Norwich forward teed-up Ruben Castro he finished with Valencia’s hapless £19m former Monaco defender Aymen Abdenour flailing.
It was only Betis' eighth goal at home all season. This is a team whose only previous scalp had been Real Sociedad - when they were still managed by David Moyes.
Five times they have lost at home but Valencia under Neville have an even worse record. It is now nine league games without a win and they have conceded first in every games.
