Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has been named Barclays Premier League Player of the Month for January.
The Argentine hitman played a pivotal role as the Blues went on an unbeaten run and climbed to second in the table.
Aguero scored five goals and provided one assist to help the Blues secure eight points from four league games.
The
27-year-old scored a late winner as City began the month with a 2-1
victory at Watford but the Blues were then held to a goalless draw at
home by Everton.
Aguero
scored twice as Manual Pellegrini's side thumped Crystal Palace 4-0 and
he claimed another brace in a 2-2 draw at West Ham.
The
Argentina international also helped City beat Everton over two legs to
book a League Cup final clash against Liverpool at Wembley.
Liverpool
forward Firmino, Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, Southampton
defender Virgil van Dijk, Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe and Tottenham
midfielder Dele Alli had also been in the runing for the monthly prize.
